SKID SAFE
protects a wide variety of materials and substrates old and
new from Sun, Water, and most Chemical damage for many years
when it is properly applied and maintained. It will make all
materials/substrates look beautiful and it can significantly
enhance colors of older materials/substrates especially painted
floors and line paints in garages. The renewed color will not
change, fade, nor oxidize over many years. It will prevent typical
rust and corrosion on metal flooring.
Use it before painting a floor as it will increase the spread
rate of the new paint-saving money, protect the substrate from
water damages, spawling and crumbling.
SKID SAFE is non-conductive. It should be used to protect wires,
and flooring etc. from humidity, dust, and moisture in environments
of heat up to 600° F. This feature makes it an ideal choice
to seal boiler rooms and other flooring areas subject to high
heat.
As cured SKID SAFE does not attract dirt, soils, nor dust, it
is easy to clean with just plain water or with a neutral cleaner.
It may be cleaned with a power washer at anytime and as frequently
as needed. The regular use of a 2000 lb powerwash weekly showed
no ill affects to SKID SAFE for 7 years! This does not mean
that such high water pressure is necessary to clean SKID SAFE,
Simple washing works well.
SKID SAFE is a penetrating sealer which will deeply seal all
porous and semi-porous materials/substrates. Therefore, it is
advisable to apply a heavier base coat to any porous material/substrate
so that one can see some gloss when this first coat has dried
to the touch. A heavier coat means that the product will look
white to slightly bluish when first being applied as opposed
to a normal style coat which is spread or spray misted water
clear looking. For larger floor areas, one may apply SKID SAFE
with the use an airless sprayer with a tip size of either 0.015
or 0.013 at 300 PSI-500 PSI, or with a low pressure hand pump
sprayer of 35 PSI.
Existing line paint should be sealed with about 4 coats of SKID
SAFE which will help extend the life of the line paint while
immediately restoring the look of the original color of the
line paint. Apply our product as a sealer before installing
a new line paint to prevent water and other damages from below
the paint. Then, top seal the line paint. Doing so will prevent
the new paint color from fading/oxidizing over many years and
add better stability to the line paint.
While SKID SAFE prevents water damage, it is not designed to
be used on any flooring area which is subject to being constantly
wet or from being wet for long periods of time exceeding a week
or so. When applied and cured SKID SAFE is subject to being
wet for too long, it will turn white in appearance. It will
return to looking clear when the standing water has dried and
often without exhibiting and damage. This is called "ponding".
Do not use it in a ponding situation.
Another highly innovative use of our product is too be able
to replace the use of all anti-slip mats and anti-slip strips
extremely cost effectively. Finely broadcasted aggregate into
freshly applied SKID SAFE will be sealed for many years! That
area will not be required to be saturated with aggregate like
an anti-slip strip is. A light sprinkling will work excellently
to provide true traction-a non slip area! While 5-6 coats of
SKID SAFE may be needed to cover at least 3/4ths of the aggregate
or all of it, this application is eliminating costly and frequent
removal of anti-slip strips every 6 months or so in many instances.
This application is guaranteed for 5 years with proper application
and maintenance according to our directions.
The wooden steps pictured on our web site were broadcast with
aluminum oxide aggregate which is virtually unwearable under
the heaviest foot traffic.
IMPORTANT DEFINITIONS
DRY TO THE TOUCH:
After any single coat of SKID SAFE has been applied, it must
feel absolutely dry. It does not feel sticky nor tacky. Wait
longer if it does. SKID SAFE will be dry very quickly outdoors,
and can dry in less than 20 minutes with the use of a blower
indoors. It dries quickly because the water portion of the product
evaporates and the applicator person can then walk on it to
apply the next coat.
Heat and air movement on it will affect how quickly each coat
dries. High humidity and cold air will cause to become dry slower.
CURED:
This is the process of the hardening of the non water elements-the
solids. SKID SAFE cures in 96 hours in normal temperature. It
will get much harder over time to a point.
SLIP RESISTANCE:
This is the degree of resistance our product delivers to slipping
and skidding as measured by ASTM C 1028 architectural test by
a State of California certified independent test laboratory.
It is COF. DRY: .81 COF WET:77.
Our product makes flooring material that is slippery when it
is in a dry condition more slip resistant in a dry condition.
It should not be interpreted that the use of our product can
prevent slip/falls ! One can hydroplane on a floor when the
shoe does not make sufficient contact with SKID SAFE and slip.
One can also trip on SKID SAFE. We do not claim that the use
of SKID SAFE will prevent slip/fall accidents.
TRACTION:
This is the creation of a non slip floor through the use of
aggregate sealed into SKID SAFE. We do not claim that the use
of finely broadcast aggregate into freshly applied SKID SAFE
will prevent slip/fall accidents.
USE COST:
This is the real cost of using any sealer or finish. It is calculated
by adding together the following factors:
The product cost, the spread rate of the product on a floor(
how much product is needed to cover the floor), the cost of
applying and maintaining the sealer/finish over a specific period
of time when it then requires to be stripped off the floor,
the costs of stripping it off the floor, and the cost of again
applying the sealer/finish.
Most sealers and finishes require regular stripping-a very costly
procedure-every 3-6 months. When you add just the cost of the
product applied and stripped every 3-6 months along with the
other factors above, one can produce a USE COST for the sealer/finish.
The USE COST of most other sealers/finishes is actually many
hundreds of $ per gallon and much higher over a 5 year time
period!
SKID SAFE DOES NOT REQUIRE STRIPPING!!!
This means that when one purchases a sealer/finish for certain
price per gallon that and then calculates the actual cost of
using that product over 5 years, adding those additional forced
expenses into the price per gallon will produce a USE COST far
exceeding the purchase price of that sealer/finish !Our numerous
clients have enjoyed the sizeable cost savings gained by purchasing
SKID SAFE!
